Panama Metro

Zoom across Panama City with ease on the modern and convenient Panama Metro. Dive into its 2 lines, bustling stations, and plans for the future.

Lines:

  • Line 1: 16km of speedy connections, completed in 2014.
  • Line 2: 21km long, opened in 2019, linking key areas.
  • Line 3: Under construction, connecting Panama Oeste province in 2026.

Stations: Choose from 32 stations, including surface, underground, and elevated options.

Accessibility: Hop on for just $0.35 a ride:

  • Weekdays: The Metro operates from 5:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
  • Saturdays: The Metro runs from 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
  • Sundays and holidays: The Metro operates from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM.

Be aware that the metro may close early at night, sometimes 10 to 20 minutes before the scheduled closing time. If you’re changing from line 1 to line 2, you might not be able to make the transfer if the service has already closed. If this happens, you can take a metro bus (if you know the route) or a taxi (since there’s less traffic at night).

Facts:

  • Fast rides at 80km/h on a 37km track network.
  • Government & private investment drive its growth.
